Flashes of past events evoke feelings of nostalgia. A simple memory of previous incidents can drown the soul in an emotional whirlpool. What Wonder Woman Tells Us About Perspectives (Spoilers Ahead)
I recently watched the movie, Wonder Woman. DC comics superhero Wonder Woman, a.k.a. Diana, is the princess of the Amazons. Diana is inspired by the dead and buried tales of her people. The saga of the Amazons lifts her spirits and shapes her opinions on justice and fairness, and the stories tell her that mankind is, at the bottom of its heart, fair and just, and Ares, the God of War, corrupts them. And so, she wants to shield her island and humans from Ares.
The protagonist has this opinion that the future would unfold exactly as in the stories. Reality soon hits Diana when she discovers that humans aren’t what the lore says. How she reconciles with this fact and deals with mankind is the crux of the story.
When we were children, we saw the world as our parents did. After we grew up, we created new stories or followed the same train of thought, or have been at a completely disagreement to what our elders led us to believe.
What fascinates me about these stories is that they rejuvenate our souls and without our knowing take us to another world. Humans mimic the characters of the stories that they love.
